William Hill app's homepage starts with the sports menu navigation bar that appears in every single betting app that I've reviewed, followed by a bunch of advertisement-looking promotions. This is immediately followed by free claimable offers, if you happen to have any. It is rare to see betting apps that volunteer to display free bet information (well, since they don't make money from it), but William Hill proudly displays it in the homepage.

Further down, the homepage has featured events, which are upcoming popular events such as football matches. These are events that your average bettor looks for, and it is always nice to place them in locations that users can access them as soon as possible.

Responsiveness

The app is quite responsive. Most content loads pretty much instantly, and loading speeds averaged 0.9s in my testing. I've never encountered any bugs or freezes throughout my use, and feedback from user input is almost always instant. At times where the app needs to load content, it clearly shows loading screens so you'll never be left thinking if your button press was registered or not.

It took 2.9s to load up the homepage from the time when I opened the app, but that does not include native biometric authentication (Face ID). Betting apps should almost always include some form of authentication for safety, and biometric authentication is usually the industry's gold standard, as passwords are a hassle to deal with.

Customisation

The app's theme feels very premium with a superb blend of gold, blue, and white, and there are understandably no options for customisation. I also do not see any means to pin favorites.

There's also a nice little tooltip that informs the user of any available boosts that they can utilise, which I have previously lauded as a good design choice that improves user experience.

However, there are two areas that I think can be improved in the bet building process. Firstly, you actually have to use their dedicated Bet Builder mode to build a bet, which means you cannot simply tap multiple selections from the event's page. In my opinion, this is unintuitive and unnecessary. Some betting apps have a streamlined Betslip that automatically detects if your selections qualify as a Bet Builder , and William Hill app can do better.

Secondly, during selections, the odds of each individual selection are not visible. Bettors need odds to make informed decisions, and I do not appreciate William Hill's attempt to hide odds in Bet Builder mode.
