The app layout looks strikingly similar to Coral, and this is no coincidence as Coral and Ladbrokes are both owned by Entain. It features similarly well-arranged elements of commonly accessed features above the fold, and the app manages to pack everything nicely without inducing claustrophobia via decently-spaced paddings.

Deposit and Withdrawal

Not having an obvious deposit button can be a hassle, but I think it is a step in the right direction. Moreover, casual bettors with zero balance accounts tend to deposit right before placing their bet, and for these users, they do not need an explicit means to navigate to the deposit page as there will be a Deposit prompt in the Betslip.

Anyway, from homepage, tap on the person icon located at the top right corner to bring up Account page, then tap Deposit. The deposit input box defaults to £5, which is interesting because in Coral's case, it defaults to £10 (despite having a minimum of £5).

The homepage starts with a quick access navigation bar, followed by a carousel of full-width promotional offers. The bottom half contains super price boosts that can go up to 50% enhanced winnings. Value bettors may find this pleasing.

Responsiveness

The app is generally responsive, though younger bettors may feel that there is room for improvement when it comes to loading speeds when navigating the app.

Upon opening the app, it only took 2.2s for the homepage to be fully loaded. However, in my experience, if you have logged in previously and your session is not expired yet, you stay logged-in (no native authentication, like FaceID, required to open the app), which means anyone with access to your unlocked phone can potentially open the app to bet on your behalf. Not good.

Moving on, navigating between pages incurs loading times that is consistently 1.1s to 2s. This is nothing surprising, as the app probably has a huge shared codebase with Coral app, and would therefore have similar load times.

Customisation

There are no customisation options (e.g., dark mode), and I also could not find a way to pin favorites. Admittedly, most bettors do not care about either functionality, so it is no big deal.

Placing a bet

The app features a smart Betslip that can be expanded for more options. I love it.

There is a conveniently-placed BOOST button if you are eligible, and tapping it will instantly boost your odds. In my case, it is a tiny 2% boost. Well, better than nothing.

As I've previously mentioned in my 247Bet app review, by reminding users about some clear benefit that they may not be aware of, these tooltips or buttons or prompts are of a great help from a user experience point-of-view, and more apps should start doing these.

The lack of a default stake can be frustrating for frequent bettors such as myself. Midnite app is a better alternative for this group of bettors as it requires significantly less effort to place a bet.

The free bet system is identical to Coral. If you have available free bets, there will be a little green circle with "FB" in it that overlaps your account icon. Tap the icon to bring up your Account page, then tap Free Bets to view your available free bets.
